Decrypting the rEBOUND ROADMAP SCORING

In the ever-evolving world of health and fitness, it can be overwhelming to navigate through the multitude of trends, research, training methods, and nutrition advice.


When I was first sick with Long COVID I got sent down rabbit hole after rabbit hole in my desperate search for answers.


This got me thinking. Could I help my audience cut through the noise?


My corporate background is in Product Management where decision frameworks are used to prioritize what features to roadmap and build. To make informed decisions that you can explain to stakeholders, it's essential to have a structured approach.


What if I could apply such a framework to empower people to choose what to incorporate into their health journey? And so The Rebound Roadmap was born.


There are numerous prioritisation frameworks but I landed on the ICE Scoring Method, because it is simple to understand and relatively quick to apply.

ICE was developed by Sean Ellis who has helped multiple Start Ups scale such as Dropbox and Eventbrite and is the author of Hacking Growth http://www.seanellis.me/. Growth Hacking by nature is speedy hence ICE being perfectly aligned to this principle.

Definition


ICE stands for Impact, Confidence and Ease. In a traditional product management context Impact looks at how much the feature will move the needle on a target metric. Confidence is the certainty that the feature will actually have the predicted Impact. And Ease looks at the level of effort to complete the feature.


Each potential feature being evaluated gets a ranking from one to ten across Impact, Confidence and Ease. Those three numbers are then multiplied, and the result is that item’s ICE Score.


For example if Feature One has an Impact of six, a Confidence of eight, and an Ease of five, the ICE Score would be 240.



Scoring principles


These are the principles I am using to score a topic in the newsletter. I must state that scores published for a topic are subjective and should be viewed as indicative.


IMPACT (1 -10)

CONFIDENCE (1 -10)

EASE (1 -10)

​Potential positive impact on the general populations health and fitness, with higher scores indicating greater potential benefits.

Level of scientific evidence, expert support, and overall credibility of the trend, with higher scores representing stronger confidence.

The practicality, sustainability, and ease of incorporating the trend into the average persons lifestyle, with higher scores indicating lower effort requirements.
